Many of us have watched Cameron’s frustrated but elegant, impassioned and respectful speech to the minister. Few could disagree with his views or his motives.
But most of us must surely view the response, from the minister and his SAPS members, as inappropriate, ugly and irresponsible. Being told to “shut up” by the minister is bad enough, but to be roughed up, threatened and frog-marched out of the building by the very SAPS members Cameron was seeking to defend is beyond the pale. No wonder Cameron has had to resort to our courts for protection.
