In 2013 my brother was in the army and introduced me to the organization War Child. It was the first time I had heard about a charity dealing specifically with the psychological effects of war on children all over the world. In Yemen they provide food vouchers and child protection. In Iraq they offer trauma counseling to children who have experienced life under ISIS. In 2014 I traveled with them to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they helped children who had been involved in armed groups reintegrate back into their communities.
