In 2016 I got a phone call from my doctor saying that I had cervical cancer. It was very alarming because I’m healthy, I never skip my annual doctor’s appointments and just a year earlier there was no problem. After two surgeries my oncologist told me I was cancer-free, and now I go for checkups every few months. Cervical cancer is a treatable and preventable disease, yet every two hours a woman dies of it.
