Bustling Palermo, capital of the Italian island of Sicily, is the starting point for adventure as five new duos pack their rucksacks for the sixth series of BBC1’s hit reality competition Race Across the World.
This time, the teams must travel over 12,000 kilometres across Europe and Asia, carving a route through eight countries – Italy, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and finally Mongolia – in a quest to be the first to cross the finishing line in the remote village of Hatgal, nestled on the shores of Lake Hövsgöl, and claim the £20,000 prize.
