first shot:

Have you been to your local gun shop lately? There’s a run on guns. There’s a tremendous shortage of ammunition. Why on earth is this still happening now that the 2020 pandemic is “under control” according to the powers that be? The answer is simple. The more the government seeks to infringe on gun rights and tries to pass unconstitutional laws, the more law-abiding U.S. citizens will be looking to stockpile. In case you’re living under a rock, Democrats in Congress recently introduced the totally unconstitutional bill, HR 127. Read it and weep here: congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/127/text. The Uninvited Ombudsman and Combat Handguns contributor Alan Korwin helped us break out some of the more unpleasant H127 bullet points: • The Attorney General (AG) working through the BATFE, shall establish a system for licensing and…

suicide setups

Some in the mental health profession used to call it “schizophrenic suicide”: involving others in one’s own deliberate self-destruction. It didn’t mean the person who died was schizophrenic, of course, and the term caused confusion and fell out of favor. It occurred most frequently with police. The general public knows that peace officers carry guns on duty and are trained to shoot anyone who attempts to kill them. By attempting to murder the officer—or convincingly pretending to do so—they would force the officer to accomplish the goal of ending their own life. Sometimes the motive was also to gain a financial legacy for the family they left behind, because they had read in the newspapers of cases where police departments had given large financial settlements to the heirs of people who…

enhancing the hk sp5

“BECAUSE MANY HK FANS VALUE AUTHENTICITY, HK CONFIGURED THE SP5 WITH CLASSIC FEATURES, SOME OF WHICH ARE DECADES OLD.” SEMI-AUTO VERSIONS of Heckler & Koch’s legendary MP5 submachine gun are among the most sought after weapons, but until now, buyers have had to make due with imported and domestically made clones. These imitations might look like the genuine article, but they don’t carry the cachet or the standard-setting quality of the real deal. Fortunately, HK finally launched two civilian-legal versions of the MP5 designated the SP5 and SP5 PDW. Both are pistols with the latter model based on the shorter MP5K subgun. Let’s take a look at the SP5. GUN DETAILS When the SP5 was released in January 2020, the first question every eager buyer wanted to know was how close it comes…

still on guard

There was a time when you could find the little .32 Seecamp pistol in the back pocket or ankle holster of most savvy defense experts. And if they didn’t have one, it was only because the tiny gun’s scarcity brought scalper prices when one became available for sale. Seecamp’s small shop couldn’t come close to satisfying the demand for their tiny, DAO semi-auto. Seizing on this unmet demand, the management at North American Arms designed their own version of the .32 blowback operated pistol in 1997. Called the Guardian, NAA tightened the tolerances and machined the gun from 17-4 stainless steel and, like the Seecamp gun, chambered it for .32 ACP. NAA’s ultra-modern factory was able to satisfy demand in a timely fashion and at a price cheaper than you’d find…
