editor’s note

“To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, To gain all while you give, To roam the roads of lands remote, To travel is to live.”- Hans Christian AndersenI If I could convert the number of times I have been asked by someone about my travel plans into frequent flyer miles, I would be able to fly to any part of the world. Swapping vacation tales is an easy way to connect with a new friend and keeps the conversation going (and Champagne flowing). The frequency in which people go on holidays should come as no surprise in this part of the world, considering that Asians make up the largest travel market across the globe. For a compact city like Singapore, travelling becomes an acute need rather than a luxury -a…

epicure loves

The Pavilions Himalayas Lake View Granted, The Pavilions Himalayas Lake View is not in the most accessible location. (Jeep Safari transfers are available.) It’s well-worth the journey though. The property redefines the concept of glamping with three capacious tented villa categories (the Royal Lake Villas being the largest at 82 sq m). Each villa is equipped with modern accoutrements, such as fully retractable glass doors and al fresco rain showers, that are aimed at bringing guests closer to the beauty unique to the region. Dine at the in-house restaurant, which uses produce from its organic farm Nepalese cuisine or enjoy a barbecue…

crazy over cheese

Originating from Rome, The Mast’ of Mozzarella & Co. marks its Asian debut and first international outpost. The bold four-in-one concept combines a cheese production laboratory with an osteria, delicatessen and bar in one space. The establishment is the only one in Singapore to produce fresh buffalo milk cheese daily on site, so you can get mozzarella, burrata and stracciatella for breakfast or dinner. The process of the fine cheesemaking extends to the provenance of its ingredients, starting from the high-quality milk imported from the osteria’s own buffalo farm in Valle dei Templi in Paestum, an Italian region known for buffalo breeding. Kick off your morning with Italian coffee and a classic Sfogliatella ($2.50), a frolla pastry stuffed with fresh ricotta cheese. For a heavier meal, the menu spread spans from…
