in a nutshell

Anew year is about to begin. Twelve brand new months—12 blank pages full of goals, dreams, and above all, possibilities. HOLA! USA has always celebrated the power of dreams and possibilities by featuring Latinos who have not only dreamed of achieving their goals but reached and even exceeded them with effort and tenacity. As is the case for the star who adorns one of our two covers, the beautiful and brilliant Natti Natasha. Who hasn’t been caught humming some of her catchy songs—from “Sin pijama” to “La mejor versión de mí”? The young Dominican overcame her shyness and, despite her undocumented status in the United States, never allowed herself to be stopped by obstacles, no matter how big or small. Instead, she worked hard until she became the top-rated female singer…

spotlight behind the scenes

Our team had the privilege of traveling to Miami, where we photographed the talented Natti Natasha—who is one of our cover stars—thus saying goodbye to 2019 and welcoming in 2020. The award-winning entertainer posed for photographer Gio Alma, who captured the magnificent images accompanying this issue’s fascinating cover story (page 58). Friendly and professional, Natti also spoke with the crew of our sister branch ¡Hola! TV, who filmed this fantastic experience for us. I hope you like the interview as much as we do!…

the ones to watch

PARTY OF FIVE Nearly 20 years after the popular show Party of Five signed off the air, an iteration of the series is returning to Freeform on January 8, 2020. This time it centers around the Acosta family, whose parents are suddenly deported back to Mexico. “This show isn’t just about rebirthing something that was wildly successful,” Brandon Larracuente, who plays oldest brother Emilio, tells HOLA! USA. “This is about telling a story for so many who are hopeless and afraid. I hope we do it justice.” His co-star Emily Tosta adds, “I hope people can take away a message of love and strength—that no matter what happens, families cannot be broken by borders.” Niko Guardado, who also plays a sibling in the series, trusts the show might change people’s perspectives.…

For the first time, two Latina super divas, Shakira and Jennifer López, will headline Super Bowl LIV’s halftime show…and their fans are going crazy. And no wonder! Every year, the Super Bowl is the most watched event on TV in the United States, and its famous halftime show is a tradition that attracts megastars that put on a spectacle of spectacular proportions. This year, the Super Bowl will be held in the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami. “There’s nothing bigger than this! So excited about getting on that #SuperBowlLIV #PepsiHalftime stage!” Shakira wrote on her social networks. “I’m so honored to be taking on one of the world’s biggest stages in the company of a fellow female artist to…

kilian hennessy

“Since my grandparents have always had a house in Sotogrande, I spend all my summers in Spain” Kilian Hennessy is one of the “chosen” who creates some of the most exclusive fragrances in the world of luxury today. A seventh generation scion of the Hennessy dynasty (and heir of a legacy full of memories and sensations linked to oak barrels), he developed from a very young age an acute sense of smell—the most fascinating and exquisite of the senses. Although many thought that Hennessy’s fate would be linked to the empire founded in 1765 by his ancestor Richard Hennessyan Irish military and businessman who went into exile in France for his Jacobite ideas—this was not to be. In 1971, Hennessy’s grandfather joined Moet & Chandon, who 16 years later merged with Louis…
