Catching people in the act of being themselves was this Austrian-born photographer’s expertise. Trained as a musician, Lisette Model turned to the visual arts later in life and particularly enjoyed capturing the upper classes in somewhat unflattering shots. Her striking images, focusing on individuals’ emotions in everyday situations, appeared regularly in publications like Harper’s Bazaar. MLR: You recently completed a mural at Jupiter Community High School in support of the Perry J. Cohen Foundation. Why was it important to you to be a part of this project, and what was your process for coming up with the nature-based theme? SF: Nick Korniloff was an acquaintance of mine through the Miami art scene, and he reached out to me after his stepson Perry and Perry’s friend Austin were lost at sea. He asked if I would be interested in supporting the charity by doing an illustration or designing the PJCF logo.
