letter from the publisher

Hello there, Chasing the winter sun? So are we! This issue is packed with trip inspiration from Aruba to Bermuda (quite a span). Don’t believe us, take a look at the map in Dates not to Miss. Ava, as she does, is highlighting all the fabulous places to go for the best festivities. From the land that gave birth to reggae, Jamaica, she convincingly guides us to spend some time on the rock for Reggae Month. She gives the details about weekly celebrations being held at the Bob Marley museum and beyond. After getting your fill of festivities, read all about the newest and most noteworthy resorts in the islands. She’s got you covered in Turks & Caicos, Bermuda, Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic and Cancun, Mexico. There’s enough there to…

to celebrate winter's return ...

#1: PUNTA CANA Named after a popular resort town in the Dominican Republic, a Punta Cana is a tropical resort escape in a glass (AKA exactly what we need to get us through fall!) Mix 2 oz Candela Mamajuana with 2 oz passion fruit juice and 1 oz fresh lemon juice, then serve. #2: TIGUERE Can you handle the heat? To make a Tiguere, mix 3 oz of Candela Mamajuana with 2 oz fresh lemon juice and 1 oz jalepeño-infused syrup. There's no quicker way to warm yourself up than with a little kick. #3: ORIENTE CALIENTE Ready for some adult La Croix? Mix 2 oz Candela Mamajuana with 2 oz of prosecco and 2 oz Yuzu Liqueur (a citrus liqueur). This bubbly treat gives you a little taste of summer when you're snuggled up…

aruba like a local

I had just flown back into LA from a hectic week of shooting NYC. It was high time I left the loud cold city behind. I was eager to leave for my trip to Aruba. It was October 31, Halloween in West Hollywood, CA, is getting underway. The starting of the festival, the hustle and bustle would soon be behind me. I head to the airport for my flight to the beautiful Island of Aruba. Arriving in Aruba was superb and easy to manage the small, quaint, fully efficient airport. With blue skies, electric-blue water and year round 82 degree weather, this all foretold of a great trip to come. The Marriott is a huge luxury hotel that stretches over three different properties, with pools, live music, Starbucks, casinos, gift shops…
