welcome…

Which is the most played record in your collection? The one whose weathered grooves and battered sleeve tell the greatest stories of heavy rotation and late-night companionship. I wouldn’t have to hesitate in answering that question. It’s Blood On The Tracks, the album which made me a hopeless Bob Dylan obsessive. It wasn’t the first Dylan record I bought, that was The Freewheelin’…, but to my mind it’s the best. I still remember the day I took it to the counter of Badlands in Cheltenham before wobbling home on my bike, running up to my bedroom, putting on my headphones and diving deep into this world of intoxicating heartbreak. Tangled Up In Blue twisted my teenage mind, dulled as it was by a diet of Oasis and Blur albums, Dylan…

Here’s a sneaky peak at 10 releases in the early part of the year that we’re already hotly anticipating… 1 Tame Impala, The Slow Rush, February Kevin Parker follows up Currents with the much-awaited The Slow Rush. Recorded in his own studio in Freemantle and Los Angeles, the album was written, recorded and produced by Parker all on his lonesome. 2 Jonathan Wilson, Dixie Blur, March The Topanga Canyon-based songwriter opted for a change of scenery and a fresh approach on his seventh studio album. Recorded in Nashville, Wilson assembled a killer band full of local talent for what he describes as his most emotional record yet. 3 Shabaka &…

My new album is… called Concrete And Glass. I found this title while I was driving in LA, looking for a famous house from the architect John Lautner in Beverly Hills. The sessions… took place in Paris in a small room full of analogue synths and a computer, except for the drums, strings and a grand piano when came the time to pimp the tracks. I worked with… a bunch of talented artists and singers (Californian Soul marvel Kadhja Bonet, Moscow’s Kate NV, Cola Boyy a young artist from Oxnard, California, Australian oddball Kirin J Callinan, and Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip), a young producer (Pierre Rousseau) and a mix of old-time partners in crime (Vincent Taeger on drums, Tony Hoffer for the mix). All these guests recently released some records of…
