welcome

It can be easy to lose track of how far we’ve come and forget to be proud of our journey. Think about how many stitches you’ve learned since you first picked up embroidery. Even if you’ve only been stitching for a few weeks, you’ve already learned valuable skills like mounting your fabric in a hoop – take a moment to notice your achievements. Designer Maggie Schnücker (@maggiejosstudio) has been taking stock of her progress and revisiting old pieces, like this greenhouse design from 2018, and turning them into fresh new patterns for you to stitch. With plenty of long summer days ahead, now is the perfect time to rekindle your sense of adventure. I’ve been enjoying the simple pleasures of day trips and excursions with friends and family, taking full advantage…

Inspired by nature Embroidery artist Aušra Merkelytė specialises in stitching realistic flowers on tulle fabric, which she sells as finished pieces through her shop Velvet Meadow. Often, her hoops reflect the real-life appearances of the flowers that she is capturing in thread. However, this rainbow dandelion caught our eye – as you’d expect – on a recent Instagram scroll. The flower features the same gorgeous texture and depth that Aušra’s other pieces display, but in an array of uplifting rainbow shades. Our favourite detail has to be the motion of one seed floating away in the breeze. www.velvetmeadow.etsy.com, @velvetmeadow IMAGE © AUŠRA MERKELYTĖ OF VELVET MEADOW, WWW.VELVETMEADOW.ETSY.COM…
