It just wouldn’t be Christmas without donning a festive jumper or two, and now these seasonal stalwarts are also sneaking into our stitching! As you flick through this month’s pages you’ll notice texture is the big theme running throughout – whether it’s emulating the cosy knitted rows in Georgie Emery’s bright pullover patterns, creating the densely stitched afro puffs in our superb cover portrait, building layers using appliqué and thread for our knock-out wall hanging, or simply adding some smooth metallic accents to your projects, we’ll show you how. Needles at the ready? While this might well be one of the most magical times of the year, for us makers it can also be one of the busiest. If you’re like me, you’ll have a list of gifts and decs to stitch…

Stitch together One of the things we love about embroidery (and there are many, many things) is the social side of it all. And designer, Christine Leech is making it easier to keep up with your crafting pals and stay in touch with the stitching community through her Sewyeah Social Club. Each month, she’ll be releasing a gorgeous new digital make-along, like the vibrant decorations you see here, and as part of each project, she’ll be hosting live virtual tutorials, sharing tips, and just having a good ol’ chat on her Instagram. We’ll definitely be joining in with a cup of tea – how about you?, @sewyeah IMAGE © CHRISTINE LEECH, WWW.SEWYEAHSOCIALCLUB.COM…

Running a business is no easy task but, as endeavours go, it can be such a rewarding one. Something that designer, author, and small business owner Cristin Morgan can enthusiastically attest to. “There are days when I’m able to spend hours in my studio drawing, stitching and playing with new materials,” she says. “Those are definitely the best days, and the ones I look forward to the most!” Cristin runs her own online embroidery shop selling modern patterns, kits, and original artworks. “I opened my first shop in 2015,” she says. “At the time, I didn’t anticipate embroidery becoming my full-time career – I just knew that I loved it.” It wasn’t long before Cristin was taking on custom orders and commissions left, right and centre – an experience that taught…
