A Netflix series about the disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine McCann while on holiday with her family in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007 has sparked controversy.
The Disappearance Of Madeleine McCann was condemned by her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, who refused to take part. In a statement on their website, they wrote, “We did not see and still do not see how this programme will help the search for Madeleine and, particularly given there is an active police investigation, could potentially hinder it.” Their spokesman added, “What I’m seeing here is not a documentary, not something factual, but a piece of entertainment.”
