BEEF PRICES UP
International: New Zealand steers traded 4,01% higher at NZ$519/head and cows were 12,57% higher at NZ$385/head.US prices were mostly higher: topside was 0,25% higher at US$222,38/cwt, rump was 0,41% higher at US$335,47/cwt, strip loin was 0,67% higher at US$640/cwt, chuck traded 0,47% higher at $222,56/cwt, and brisket traded 1,33% higher at US$232,80/cwt.
Domestic: Local prices were as follows: Class A prices were 0,36% higher at R38,71/kg and Class C prices were 2,08% higher at R28/kg. The weaner price was 1,38% higher at R19,88/kg. The hide price was 1,82% lower at R14,60/kg. International markets currently seem to be bearish, and this should start adding some pressure to the domestic market. In the next few months, prices should be supported, due to the fallout from the drought.
