The Pietermaritzburg High Court on Friday handed a 40-year-old man a hefty term in prison for the double murder of a Hulamin security guard and his son, among other charges.
Provincial police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the accused Thanduxolo Zungu was convicted for two counts of murder and on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, malicious damage to property, arson as well as the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Ngcobo said Zungu committed these crimes between January 2019 and March 2020.
She said that on January 28, 2020, at 4.15am, Zungu shot and killed Nhlanhla Dlamini, 48, and his 24-year-old son Nkanyiso Dlamini at Sinating Location in Pietermaritzburg.
