This issue we welcome Andrew Conway to our team as executive editor. Andrew is a colossal – and exciting – addition to the Signature team. He brings over 20 years of experience working on major newspapers and magazines, specialising in luxury and travel. We are thrilled that his career path has led him to work with us. A week prior to joining us, Andrew won the prestigious CLIA award for the best cruise article of 2018, making him the ideal editor to have at the helm for our next issue, the annual Cruise Edition. the fantasy of phu quoc

Step into a world of pure imagination at JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa. This pastel enclave of 234 rooms and villas on the powder-white sands of Bai Khem brings style, opulence and all-out whimsy to Vietnam’s largest island. Architect and designer Bill Bensley is the visionary responsible for turning the disused Université Lamarck, a late 19th-century institution named for the French naturalist, into the eclectic resort, where guests are ‘pupils’ and the ‘campus’ is a beachfront playground of three pools, a kids’ club and five restaurants and bars. Here, nothing is quite as it seems, and going into the backstory Bensley has imagined for the hotel only reveals more delights. Guests are greeted by the ‘university’ mascots, Richie and Roger, two hulking Phu Quoc ridgebacks, the ubiquitous…

experiences to remember

The best resorts not only offer a restful stay and fine food in beautiful surrounds, but they also make it easy for guests to explore the destination they’ve chosen above all others to spend their next holiday. InterContinental Koh Samui Resort on the island of Koh Samui is one such resort. When you’re not indulging in a sublime spa treatment overlooking the ocean, sipping a cocktail watching the best sunsets on Samui or reconnecting over a private dinner under the stars, getting out to explore the magical marine life on your doorstep in and around the secluded enclave of Taling Ngam Bay is a must. The InterContinental’s private speedboat makes it easy to reach some of the favourite haunts of rare pink dolphins and endangered dolphins off the coast of Khanom. Watch…
