over to you…

Natasha Sutton Solihull How would you describe your stitching style? I’m very relaxed about when and where I stitch. I have lots of projects on the go and rotate them so I don’t get bored. Who do you most like to stitch for? I love stitching for my children. They’re always so excited when they realise I’m stitching for them! Their walls are slowly becoming covered in cross stitch. Who is your favourite character to stitch? It has to be Peter Rabbit. I’ve loved all the Beatrix Potter characters for years, and after the recent film I just have to stitch him! Who taught you to cross stitch? I taught myself to stitch. My first project was an engagement sampler for my college friend. I’d never stitched before, but I saw it and fell in love. Never looked back! Becky…

Raise a smile this festive season with two gorgeous Russian doll baubles! Dressed up in cheerful peacock colours with their headscarves and shawls wrapped snugly around them, these little ladies can’t wait to help add some bold holiday cheer to your home. Using your kit, you’ll stitch two adorable Russian nesting dolls by Cheryl McKinnon and make them up with the perfectly-shaped felt frames and jolly pink ribbon provided. They’ll be ready to hang on your tree in no time! Best of all, these dolls are easy to stitch, with blocks of colour formed in whole stitches with some backstitch. Try giving the kit to a new stitcher, or let a young crafter have a go – an adult can help put in the backstitch details! And more experienced stitchers can…

you’ve got mail

Whether they live near or far, this hedgehog’s loved ones will receive a fabulous stitchy card through the post this Christmas! If you’re as excited as she is to send stitchy gifts to those you care about, you’ll love watching this cutie and her robin friend spring to life as you add lots of intricate backstitch to the whole stitches and fractionals on your fabric. Try stitching the scene on light blue aida so your background looks like a clear winter sky! Then, give this finish to a close friend or family member for the holidays – they’ll know you sent it with all your love. Reader Says… I love stitching anything Christmas-related, and this one looks super cute! I love all the detail that the backstitch brings to the finished design. Natasha…
