With this January issue, we herald the start of a new decade – except that with the idiosyncrasies of the magazine world, you are most likely reading this in December, with Christmas firmly in the way. What will the new year bring? As I write, we are filled with all sorts of uncertainty about our future relationship with Europe. But I hope and pray that there will be a resolution soon into, so that we can go forward with new purpose. When I first started at House & Garden in., Paul Brown (a former environment correspondent for The Guardian) was writing a monthly column, which he had started the year before ‘to advise on making your home greener’ and ‘to demystify incoming regulations’ concerning the environment.
