Jason Mowen Interior designer Mowen took on the sizeable task of casting an eye over 50 years of iconic designs and choosing the best of the best for ‘50 Things That Rocked Our World 1967–2017’ (page 103) — a process he thoroughly enjoyed. “I particularly liked the flflexibility and spontaneity of compiling such a list,” enthuses the Sydneysider. “I’m quite nostalgic so it’s a great pleasure to explore creativity of the past 50 years and select a variety of things from architecture to furniture to fashion and fififilm, even aviation.” Mowen is currently completing interior projects in Sydney and Melbourne, and cites his main creative inspirations as “history, art and interesting people”. "Whether 50 is the new 40 or however we choose to position it, the inescapable fact is that Vogue Living has notched up half a century, and that’s a milestone to be applauded and celebrated. For five decades, the magazine has showcased exceptional people and extraordinary homes, anticipating design trends that have shaped our lives. Setting modesty aside (and a 50th birthday is no time to be shy), it’s fair to say Vogue Living has been one of Australia’s most significant cultural barometers. It’s a great privilege to be its custodian in such an important anniversary year, but I’d like to acknowledge my predecessors who have steered Vogue Living brilliantly through the decades.
