Hot on the heels of last year’s successful competition, the 2022 edition of Australasia’s Top Wedding Photographers attracted an impressive array of brilliant entries from photographers across Australia and New Zealand. Featuring two categories, entrants could either make submissions into the Single Shot category or Portfolio category, the latter requiring five images. Like last year, the competition was judged by a panel featuring some of the best and most respected wedding photographers from around the globe. Australasia’s Top Wedding Photographers is a celebration of the best wedding photography from Australia and New Zealand. For decades, we’ve been told that creative people are right-brain thinkers, establishing a “have and have not” dichotomy – either you’re an innovative creative or you’re a left-brain thinker, analytical and logical. That has been proven wrong. It turns out that creativity is a right-brain ability when a person is inexperienced or dealing with an unfamiliar situation. With experience, creativity draws on learning and left-brain thinking. Creativity becomes more unconscious and autonomous, more predictable, following patterns that have been learned. That is perhaps why moving into new territory – stills to moving images, colour to black and white, portrait to food, for example – can trigger a new creative vigour. A viable digital asset management (DAM) workflow will consistently back-up working files and archive completed jobs, including offsite copies, keep large quantities of files safe, and readily accessible. It should also make files easy to find, use, and deliver, whether you are a solo photographer or grow to become a team. But which DAM system?
