Also known as the Mean Ruz lighthouse, this towering structure on the pink granite coast of Brittany dates from 1946; there was previously a lighthouse on the site that dated back to 1860, but it was destroyed by the German forces in 1944. letter of the month I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel extensively during my lifetime and it’s only now, when I’m getting on a bit, that I can fully appreciate how lucky I’ve been.
