Dinner @ 8 ‘Patterns’
“Patterns”—a juried invitational exhibition that made its debut at International Quilt Festival, Houston, in October 2016—is dedicated to the memory of the late Yvonne Porcella, quilter, founder of Studio Art Quilt Associates, author, and teacher. Yvonne’s bright and whimsical work graced five Dinner at Eight exhibits, and her enchanting smile and wit were generously shared with those fortunate enough to meet her.Yvonne was a great friend and mentor to many, including both of us. Her memory lives on through all who knew her. For this, our eighth annual exhibit, we chose a total of 30 art quilts—nine are featured here—each measuring 40" square. The theme, “Patterns,” was intentionally open-ended to stimulate the creativity of the invited artists. Some quilts were representational, some were abstract.
