Around the Neighborhood
ABOUT THIS TIME of year, I start taking a lot of walks, usually with my Jack Russell terrier, Rocky, lunging ahead on a taut leash. My route doesn’t change that much. Sometimes I take a right out of my driveway and head uphill, and sometimes I turn left and go downhill. Either way, I usually make a big loop around the neighborhood, and I always enjoy looking at the houses and how they start coming to life in the spring. There’s a brick Georgian with black shutters around the corner that always has several hundred daffodils blooming in the front yard about now, and next door is a stately French Colonial with a mailbox that will soon be covered in white azaleas.
