Philippa Moroney FASHION STYLIST In preparation for a shoot in her role as senior fashion editor and market director at Vogue Australia, Philippa Moroney will have every look planned and fitted beforehand so she knows exactly how everything will play out. Briefed with bringing a slice of old-world Paris to this compact Manhattan apartment, New York-based designer CRYSTAL SINCLAIR sought to pack as much marble, brass and decorative detail as possible into the tiny space. When I became editor of Vogue Living, I made it clear that celebrating and recognising women in design was an important objective for the magazine. I wanted to showcase female creatives who had talent, passion and perseverance, as well as a different perspective in a traditionally male-dominated field. The #MeToo movement was in full swing when my first women’s issue went on sale and, three years on, I’m still as passionate as ever to shine a light on and provide a stage for the amazing women who continue to break new ground in the design realm. Almost a year to the day this issue went on sale, the worst of the Black Summer bushfires were extinguished and Australia breathed a sigh of relief. That summer was unforgettable in many ways but one part that will forever stick in our minds was the outpouring of support.
