A real calamity
The futureproofing of our gardens, farms, homes and society is vital in the face of the worsening climate calamity. But futureproofing is almost being superseded by ‘now proofing’ as the effect of drought and floods and extreme weather is overtaking our ability to cope, physically and mentally. Of course, most people carry on, having no choice, but with possessions, livelihoods and dreams washed away, many are only just hanging in there. While we do what we can to futureproof the worst effects of climate change, we are increasingly being thrust into ill-prepared emergency responses with limited resources and capabilities.
