alas, it still is a bleak scenario

UNCERTAINTY CONTINUES TO HAUNT THE ECONOMY AS COVID-19 CASES KEEP MOUNTING with more than 90,000 cases being reported daily. Going by the fact that the government of Maharashtra is enforcing Section 144, it looks like a long haul before we can see some sort of normality returning and, by the look of it, the vaccine seems to be quite some distance away. Most people have taken a salary cut; I would say the lucky ones still have a job and the unfortunate ones have lost their jobs and their means of livelihood. There is no sign of a stimulus package in the near future and, to make matters worse, fuel prices continue their northward trend, thus making the ordinary citizen the worst-hit as they have to shell out more for the…

Rs 2-lakh Naked Needed What is the best bike within the Rs 2-lakh budget? I am looking for a naked. I have ridden the Gixxer 250 and the power is good. I just didn’t like rear brake performance. What about the FZ 25? What are my other options? Faishal Mansoori, via social media Hello, Faishal, The Bajaj Dominar 400 costs Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom), so it is just within your budget. That’s a good option for touring and has the same 373.27-cc single as the KTM 390 Duke. The BS6 variant of the FZ25 has not yet been launched, so that cannot be an option as of now. You should certainly consider the Suzuki Gixxer 250. It is a more budget-friendly option at Rs 1.74 lakh (ex-showroom) and is a good all-rounder that…

off-road starter bike

I am a long-time reader and love the work you do to keep us two-wheeler fans entertained and up to date. I am a complete off-road novice who is looking to learn the art of riding in the mud. I want a suitable bike that will be good to learn on and one that doesn’t cost too much. I will also be using it as my daily bike to go to office and for small errands around the city. I am five feet seven inches tall, so I want something on which I can reach my feet down properly. Since I am a novice, I want to make things as easy as possible. I want a light bike as well for this purpose. I am looking at the Hero Xpulse…

production-ready bimota tesi h2 revealed

LAST YEAR, KAWASAKI BOUGHT A 49.9 per cent stake in the Italian bike manufacturer, Bimota, and the first product of this collaboration is the Bimota Tesi H2, revealed at EICMA last year. After months of teasing and hushed track-tests, the Tesi H2 is finally production-ready and Bimota have been accepting bookings for this unique machine since the 10 September. Only 250 units of the Tesi H2 will be built, each sporting a unique serial number plaque, bathed in carbon-fibre bodywork, and powered by the Ninja-H2-derived supercharged four-cylinder motor that makes 231 hp and 141 Nm of torque, with peak power going up to 242 hp with ram air. Rather than using a traditional fork for the front suspension, the Tesi H2 is endowed with Bimota’s radical hub-centre steering system which incorporates a…

Hero MotoCorp’s e-Motorcycle Early last year, India’s leading two-wheeler maker opened the doors to its international technical centre in Munich, Germany. And now the buzz is that this tech centre is busy developing a new electric motorcycle. The model is reportedly called “e-US” or “electric Ultra Sport”, hinting at it being a sporty electric bike. Apart from this, the Munich tech centre is also said to be working on cost-effective electric drivetrains and solutions for using the existing Hero platforms. Although these electric-powered two-wheelers are being developed in Europe, they are expected to be produced here in India. Royal Enfield Partners With Levi’s Royal Enfield have partnered with Levi’s in making riding gear offering requisite protection. This partnership has been well received by many as it allows them to wear their favourite denim brand…

odisha odyssey: south

At a special event held by the government of Odisha and under the auspices of Odisha Tourism, we joined in with a celebratory rally on World Tourism Day ROAD TRIPS OFTEN START WITH LITTLE to no ceremony. Just pack your bags and head off into the unknown. This one is a little different though. We started off with a bang, and a big one too. This rally saw us go for a journey from the state’s capital to the spectacular Dhauli Shanti Stupa some 30-odd kilometres away. There,…
