Volvo Group Australia (VGA) has strengthened its customer service network in the nation’s north, with the appointment of Western Truck Group (WTG) as its sales, parts and services dealer for Rockhampton, Townsville, Cairns and Darwin. The transfer of ownership of VCV Rockhampton, Townsville, Cairns and Darwin to WTG was effective March 1. VGA president and CEO Martin Merrick welcomes the expansion of the “successful alliance that VGA already enjoys with WTG” in Toowoomba, Mt Isa and the Sunshine Coast. The decision to transfer ownership to WTG was due to its “experience in building and operating reliable transport solutions in regional areas”. “The expansion of WTG will allow for a strengthened network presence to service and support the group’s extensive and important regional transport customer base,” Merrick says. A Daimler Trucks dealership network established in inland New South Wales sees a new partner operating the Wagga Wagga and Albury dealerships, while an additional showroom is set for Dubbo later this year. The hub for Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and Fuso customers will be headed by David Warren, a 25-year veteran across the region, with history as a service manager/salesman at Paccar’s network, as well as being a stand-alone business owner The new operations in Wagga Wagga and Albury will operate out of the same locations as previous Daimler Trucks entities, while the Dubbo dealership will be all-new. South West Isuzu of Picton, near Bunbury in WA, has been named the 2019 Isuzu Trucks National Dealer of the Year. Three other award categories were decided during the annual National Dealer Meeting held in Sydney, including sales, service and parts awards for top performance during the year. The National Dealer of the Year award recognises a combination of sales, customer support and service. “Dealer principal Darren Sprigg and the South West Isuzu team exemplify what it means to be an Isuzu Trucks dealer,” IAL MD and CEO Hiroko Yaguchi says. Truck Centre Western Australia (TCWA) has won the Volvo Group Australia (VGA) Metropolitan Dealer of the Year award for 2019. Mackay-based Crokers Truck Centre won both Regional Dealer of the Year and National Customer Satisfaction Leader awards. The awards were presented during the VGA’s annual dealer conference in Brisbane in February. Industry icon Max Winkless was on hand to receive the award for the Perth dealership. Metropolitan and regional dealers are awarded on criteria that measures overall success as a result of sales, customer satisfaction, and aftermarket service, Volvo states.
