Asociopath, according to an amalgam of definitions, can be defined as a person who has antisocial personality disorder, characterised by a disregard for the feelings of others, a lack of remorse or shame, manipulative behaviour, unchecked egocentricity, and the ability to lie in order to achieve one’s goals. Sound like anyone you know? Scarily, I think we could all identify some or all of these qualities in certain individuals among our peers. Even more scarily, after looking at the reams of internet entries on “How to spot/deal with a sociopath,” I worry that I might display, or have displayed at some point in time, sociopathic tendencies. Dr Martha Stout, a clinical psychologist and former Harvard Medical School instructor, estimated in her book, The Sociopath Next Door, that one out of every…

ERIC RAY DAVIDSON PHOTOGRAPHER Having shot covers for our cousins over at US GQ, we enlisted Davidson to photograph Joel Edgerton (p140). “He’s an immensely talented actor and director,” he reports. “It’s always a great experience to photograph a subject whose work you admire.” YOU’VE TURNED THE LENS ON A LOT OF FAMOUS PEOPLE – WHO DID YOU ENJOY SHOOTING THE MOST? I’ve had so many favourites, but I would have to say that UFC fighter Conor McGregor definitely stands out as being one of the most fun to shoot. My name is Ethan, I am 12 years old and I really love GQ. My dad used to run a fashion store and he suggested I read the magazine, so I went to the post office and bought a copy. I really enjoyed reading it and looking at all the clothing and designs. I bought this month’s copy and saw a really stylish bag that I would love, so I entered this competition hoping to bring the bag home. ETHAN, VIA EMAIL Good news, Ethan – the bag’s on its way. Enjoy! Such a great cover. Can’t wait to go out and get my copy! BEN, VIA INSTAGRAM Jake Gyllenhaal has to be the ultimate hairstyle inspo. JASON, VIA FACEBOOK Justin O’Shea is such a cool dude. knowledge is power and power corrupts

“ASSANGE CLEARLY HAS A HORSE IN THIS RACE, WORKING TO SEE ONE CANDIDATE WIN.” I just finished watching a strange interview with Julian Assange. It was from a TED conference in 2010. It’s strange for a few reasons. Firstly, I’ve become so used to seeing Assange speaking only from his digs at the Ecuadorean embassy in London that I almost forgot that he used to be free to walk around and do things. Secondly, the point of the interview was to discuss Wikileaks as a revolutionary force in journalism, one that delivered more documents to the world than any other media organisation. In this light, Assange is cast as a rock star of the geek world – the Zuckerberg of truth. This is before he was a suspect in a Swedish…

vanessa kirby

Set in ’50s Britain, Kirby plays a young Princess Margaret – the hell-raising little sister of Queen Elizabeth. “She was the naughty one,” says the chatty 28-year-old Londoner. “She’s the total opposite of Elizabeth.” Kirby’s not wrong. Margaret not only had a prodigious taste for booze and cigarettes, but also rumoured dalliances with everyone from Mick Jagger to Warren Beatty. “It’s easy to forget now, but Margaret was a global icon. She was more photographed and chased after than [Princess] Diana.” The big-budget, visually stunning series is the work of The Queen screenwriter Peter Morgan, and stars Claire Foy (Queen Elizabeth), Matt Smith (Prince Philip), and John Lithgow (Winston Churchill) – “Probably the nicest man on the planet.” Best known for roles in Me Before You, Jupiter Ascending and Everest, Kirby is keen to get…
