china, china, where do we go from here?

When we started this issue, Chinese investments into global brands were at an all time high. It was a good strategy. Western technology brands wanted into the hugely untapped Chinese market, while the China wanted to expand globally. This was the trends we saw with the major international trade shows created Chinese editions; CES Asia, MWC Shanghai, CE China. However, the stigma of Chinese influence stuck around. In manufacturing, Made in China was still considered inferior, and Chinese brands just didn’t have the prestige. But with a huge economy, China bought it’s way into the global stage as silent investors. Do read this issue’s cover story to find out more. But as I write this note, the U.S. - China trade war has escalated to have direct impact on the tech market.…

no one does picture and sound perfectly like sony bravia tv

In many ways, an ideal home entertainment setup is no different from a symphony. The latter requires flawless coordination and timing to pull off, which is exactly what Sony has accomplished with their Sound-from-Picture Reality TVs. The concept is simple but difficult to realise: to deliver picture and sound in perfect harmony. The secret lies in two unique and ground-breaking features: Acoustic Surface Audio (ASA) and Acoustic Multi-Audio (AMA). USING YOUR ENTIRE TV FOR SOUND ASA makes us look at televisions in a new light. Two actuators behind the display vibrate the screen for a dynamic 2.2ch audio experience. They aren’t strong enough to make the TV shake, but they are precise enough to isolate the sound of on-screen objects. Matching what you hear with where you see it is a huge immersion boost.…

it’s possible! here’s how samsung qled 8k tvs make existing content look be er than their best

Real-life experience up close — that’s always been the goal of any new TV technology. It’s been seven years since we crossed the 1080p Full HD chasm to 4K, and now, we’re leaping into another level of realism with the new Samsung QLED 8K Q900R TVs. 33 MILLION PIXELS — ENABLING NEXT-LEVEL REALISM Much like a digital camera, everyone knows that more pixels give you more details. But it’s also easy to wrongly assume that an 8K screen has only twice the number of pixels of a 4K screen. At 7,680 × 4,320 pixels, a Samsung QLED 8K TV actually packs no less than 33 million pixels — that’s 4 times the resolution of 4K or 16 times the resolution of Full HD! That said, resolution is only half the story. You’re now…
