it’s not about you, god says go!

“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.” – Zechariah 4:6 We have been studying the book of Jonah recently and this month I wish to comment specifically on chapter 3 where Jonah eventually – under duress and after his horrific ordeal within the whale – goes to Nineveh to deliver the message that the Lord had given to him. The message was a harsh one, informing the people that God would destroy them and the entire town in 40 days because of their intense evil and sin. Scripture tells us that the people immediately believed God’s message and repented. Even the king stepped down off his throne and stripped himself from his royal robes. Repentance and…

salvation prayer

Heavenly Father, I come to you in the Name of Jesus. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself; I need your forgiveness and salvation. I believe that Jesus died on the Cross, and on the third day He rose to be with You. I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. I invite Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Saviour and I surrender my life to Him. Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace that has saved me from my sins. Please, Lord Jesus, transform my life so that I may bring glory and honour to You alone and not to myself. Thank you Jesus for the gift of eternal life.…

season of change

It is very interesting to note that certain numbers appear in the Bible and are consistently associated with specific situations or events. The number nine (last of the single digits) of 2019 is no exception. This number represents two major things. Firstly, finality or the end of a season – followed by divine judgement of man’s works. Secondly, our walk with God and seeking His Will, which produces fruitfulness, joy, and blessing. It is also the number connected to the nine-fold fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23) and the manifestation of the nine gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor 12:4-10). Therefore, we – as the church of God – have much to look forward to. The Church has the power! It is the responsibility of every Christian to seek the face of…

how do you get to heaven?

A teacher asked the children in her Sunday school class, “If I sold my house and my car, had a big garage sale, and gave all my money to the church, would that get me into heaven?” “NO!” the children all answered. “If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard, and kept everything neat and tidy, would that get me into heaven?” Again, the answer was, “NO!” “Well, then, if I was kind to animals and gave candy to all the children, and loved my wife, would that get me into heaven?” she asked them again. Again, they all answered, “NO!” “Well, then how can I get into heaven?” A five-year-old boy shouted out, “YOU GOTTA BE DEAD!” The Bible is very clear Of course the little boy was quite…

letters to the editor

God bless Siya Kolisi! Amidst the latest report about the status of Siya Kolisi‘s captaincy, I just love this player. I’m not a huge fan of rugby in general, but I try and stay updated as to who is new. My first memory of him was a pic of him with his then fiancé, Rachel, and their two siblings they took under guardianship! I salute you both Rachel and Siya, for being so ‘young’ yet taking on this responsibility. I wish Siya and his family all the best. Keep pressing forward as best as you can. Let the nay’sayers stay where they are and Let God elevate your union and your family to greater heights. Janine Arendse This testimony has blown me away. Read it soberly.... In an interview by Paul Bradshaw with author…
