bring on the muscle

IF I got a penny for every time someone says the Land Rover magazines and features are all the same then I would be wealthier than Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and the richest man in the world. How many Land Rovers can he buy with his $190 billion fortune? The biggest challenge we face at LRM is to provide you with fresh and compelling content in a highly-competitive and ever-changing market. To that end, last month we started our new LRM Classics section with Gary Pusey at the helm. Thanks for all the positive feedback regarding this new addition. This month we decided to have a little fun and I am proud to present to you our first-ever Muscle Car issue. I know that by definition a Muscle Car is…

victory for 4x4 owners

A judge has ruled that drivers of 4x4 vehicles can continue to use off-road tracks in the Lake District after dismissing a legal challenge from campaigners who argued that vehicles polluted the national park and put cyclists and ramblers in danger. Laning in the Lake District has been an ongoing battle for some time. Several years ago a petition was created calling for a ban on greenlaning in the park, these calls centred around two lanes – High Tilberthwaite and High Oxen Fell. Over half a million people signed the petition, the large numbers warranting an investigation by the park, and so the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA) went about a two-year assessment of the situation. The review was extremely comprehensive. To read it in full, together with the judicial review documents,…

new records set by team exe edurow

NOT only have Land Rover and watchmaker Elliot Brown teamed up to create one of the world’s toughest watches, but they’re also the sponsor of Exe Endurow who after completing the GB Row Challenge also set records for the youngest team to complete the row round Britain row, together with a new record time for the fastest assisted row round Britain. The Queen’s great nephew Arthur Chatto and three of his friends (Oliver Dawe-Lane, Harry Lidgely and Charles Bromhead) arrived at Tower Bridge on 16 August after rowing unassisted for 1820 miles battling against adverse conditions whilst circumnavigating around the UK coast. They completed the challenge in an astonishing 42 days, 8 hours, 23 minutes and 16 seconds raising £20,000 for the British Red Cross and Just Once Ocean for their…

range rover most popular stolen car in 2020

Despite headlines rife with stories about Defender thefts, it is the Range Rover that continues to be the most-stolen vehicle in the UK, according to the latest data from Tracker. In fact, Land Rover models have dominated Tracker’s top 10 most-stolen and recovered models for five years now, with the Range Rover Sport consistently appearing in the top five: this year it topped the charts, while the Range Rover Vogue and Discovery ranked third. The data also showed that the thieves don’t even need the keys to the vehicle, as they reverse-engineer the security tech. In fact, 96 per cent of cars recovered by Tracker were (between January and July) stolen without keys, compared to 92 per cent during the same period last year. Clive Wain, head of Police Liaison for Tracker, said:…

no emergency funding for jaguar land rover

Emergency funding talks between Jaguar Land Rover, sister company Tata Steel and the UK government, which may have led to British taxpayers owning stakes in the car maker and metals group, have ended. This means both companies will have to rely on private financing to overcome the impact of coronavirus on business. The Treasury concluded that Indian conglomerate Tata Group (who own JLR and Tata Steel) did not qualify for taxpayer support and that the emergency financing scheme, Project Birch (a bailout plan to rescue companies that are seen as strategically important), imposed strict conditions on any lending, which meant the scheme was infeasible for Tata. JLR was also unwilling to meet requirements to decarbonise its fleet further in order to obtain financial support. The requirements would have forced them to…
