love embroidery fresh ideas with thread

Autumn is a favourite season for many, with shorter days and cooler evenings evoking thoughts of cosy nights curled under blankets. But, it’s the journey nature takes us on that sparks creativity, from the rich reds and golds of the trees to the way the crisp air and crunch of leaves heighten our senses. welcome!

Is it really time to wave good-bye to summer sunshine? Do we mind, when cooler weather gives us a brilliant excuse to stay indoors and stitch our hearts out? To get us in the mood for autumn, Jenny Blair has designed a gorgeous golden-coated fox, and the rich hues of Maggie Snücker’s sunflower will warm us up nicely. We’d love to see your versions of Lucy’s design, and all the other projects in this issue too. My latest ‘project’ is my new baby daughter. So, I shall bid you a temporary cheerio while I’m on maternity leave. I’ve handed the reins over to someone who loves…

Found florals Flowers stitched on tulle… what a dreamy idea. We were bowled over when we spotted one of Olga Prinku’s hoops hanging in a window with the sunlight drifting through. Jumping straight on her website we found tutorials that show us she does it. Olga makes works of art from dried botanicals, placing them into beautiful arrangements before stitching them onto the fabric. She even shares how to dry the found florals. A gifted illustrator, you’ll find Olga’s embroidered designs festooned on Anthropolgie textiles and embellishing Ruth Eaton’s fashion collection. www.prinku.com…
