While doing my research on surrogacy before I chose it as an option to bring my baby home, I came across the term 'intended parents' or IPs, as they are called in assisted reproduction. Referring to people who choose different versions of surrogacy to conceive, it implies an intent to have a child, irrespective of shared DNA. Though not used frequently in India, I thought it was such a beautiful term indeed. To be a parent comes only next to first intending—sometimes desperately—to become a parent.
