“Yes,” I said, startled. It was Thursday night. Why was a cop asking about my church’s equipment trailer?
I’m the pastor of Meadows Church in Omaha. Back then, in September 2019, we were a start-up holding weekly services at a Marriott hotel. We stored our stuff—musical instruments, speakers, amps, lights, kids’ ministry materials, Bibles, gift packets for first-time guests, coffeepots—in a trailer in the hotel parking lot.
“Your trailer was found in Council Bluffs, Iowa, today,” the officer said. “It appears to have been stolen and set on fire. It’s been taken to a tow yard. No suspects have been apprehended.”
