accessories women collections a/w 2019.20

Minimal alternates with a mix of eccentric styles in the accessories for Autumn/Winter 2019.20, giving every woman the chance to express the many facets of her personality on a wide variety of occasions. In Polyhedra shapes are minimal but not banal. Fabrications, from laser cutting to more traditional weaving, create multiple figures, playing with symmetry and asymmetry. New Glam Rock is about an eccentric time period, the ’70s and ’80s, about British stars and their outlandish wardrobe. Everything is given a modern twist while keeping the original shapes: worked leather, oversize studs and digital prints feature on platforms and bags. Finally, for the brightest evenings, Fancy Nights combines all the colours, fabrics and details brilliantly to attract attention: stones, gems and Swarovski illuminate the looks alongside shiny, iridescent leather; colours…

polyhedra

Clean shapes and minimalism. Accessories come in understated shapes, teaming aesthetic and functionality. From plane to solid figures, from triangles, trapezes, rectangles and squares to cylinders and parallelepipeds, everything is about harmony of form. A modern reworking of Bottega Veneta’s signature intreccio weave features in its collection. Regular strips of leather are woven to form perfect squares and create three-dimensionality and softness for bags with triangular handles or buckles. Hermès favours parallelepipeds and uses them to revisit the classic briefcase: square shape, two-colour leather and a cylindrical turnlock closure, a shape also used for the heel on second-skin suede boots. Byblos has also produced lots of geometric shapes, caging the foot in a futuristic mesh, unlike MSGM which prefers sinuous curves for its two-colour sling backs. The young designer Glenn…

new glam rock

An outlandish wardrobe and extravagant make-up were the basic requirements for the eccentric ’70s and partly ’80s Glam Rock scene. Dominated by the androgynous figure of David Bowie, there were plenty of studs, glossy leather, colourful prints and, above all, the must-have accessory of the period: platform shoes. The same accessory dominated the current runways in various forms and colours. Whether glossy or suede, Rick Owens drives the attention to his platform boots that wrap around the foot to the ankle: leather and stretch fabric give a perfect fit, creating a contrast with the considerably high platform and block heel. Stella McCartney’s come in boot form with a ‘flared’ rubber heel. Last but not least, Dries Van Noten’s: here the focus is inevitably on the rubber platform and heel highlighted…

fancy nights

Attention-seeking, original accessories battle it out to be the life and soul of the party. Showy bags and capricious shoes come in bright colours and self-reflective materials. Precious stones, fake fur and lacquered leather illuminate the night and catch the eye. Versace has come up with little quilted shoulder bags with reworked quilting: bright colours are paired with gold chains and the brand’s ‘V’ moulded in elegant decoration; court shoes in glossy satin have straps rising up the ankle embellished with rigid gold and Swarovski bows. Vivienne Westwood stands out from the crowd with ‘mistreated’ and shimmering textures: court shoes are simple and basic but embellished with studs at the back; wrinkled leather clutches have an iridescent treatment to reflect the light in different shades. Jeremy Scott festooned his Moschino…

accessori collezioni donna a/i 2019.20
