One of the things I love most about my job is getting to test a huge variety of beauty products. My particular interest is skincare and has been since I used my first cleanser and toner as a teen. Back then, I used to covet the face creams in the Avon catalogue way before I was even in their target market. It feels amazing offering genuinely personalised nutrition advice that helps people make informed decisions and become responsible for their own health. I have always had a passion for food, nutrition and the workings of the human body. Whilst my job in television was interesting and enjoyable (I worked for the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, Tigress Productions, then at Channel 5), I felt my heart lay elsewhere. I was keen to train for a…

LET THERE BE LIGHT A brilliant new breakthrough could provide a simple way to reduce your risk of heart attack. Exposure to a bright light (10,000 LUX) for 30 minutes on five consecutive days was found to protect participants’ cardiovascular tissues against conditions including myocardial ischemia. Giving patients this light exposure in the week leading up to surgery could offer valuable protection against heart injury, according to researchers from the University of Colorado.
