There was a buzz in the WHO office earlier this week. Our art director – and Disney fan! – Emma Tocchet scored an invite to the Sydney premiere of The Little Mermaid and it seems the blue carpet event, and the film itself, did not disappoint. As a mum of grown-up boys, the original film passed me by because my guys, when little, were more into Thomas the Tank Engine and Dora the Explorer. But thanks to our coverage of the premiere (on page 6) and feature on the film (page 82), I’m keen to check the remake out. Elyse Knowles and her fiancé Josh Barker have become parents for a second time. The former stars of The Block took to social media recently to announce they had welcomed a sibling for their two-year-old son, Sunny. “Zaii Barker. Following premieres in Los Angeles and London, the stars of Disney’s The Little Mermaid made a splash in Sydney on May 22. Portuguese and German authorities have launched a major search for Madeleine McCann’s body at a remote reservoir in Portugal, 16 years after the 3-year-old went missing. Police have already begun digging in the Barragem do Arade reservoir near Silves, about 45 minutes from the Ocean Club apartment in Praia da Luz where Madeleine disappeared while on holiday with her parents and siblings in 2007. “Portuguese police will offer logistic support but the initiative is German and they were the ones that requested the work that is going to take place,” an insider said of the international operation. “Scotland Yard officers are due to travel to Portugal but theirs will be a watching brief.” While the reservoir was the location of a sighting days after Madeleine vanished, with a woman handing a child…

Earlier this month, Madeleine’s parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, marked the 16th anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance with a moving vigil near their village of Rothley, Leicestershire. The gathering on May 3 was attended by friends, family and other locals. Madeleine’s younger sister Amelie – who had been sleeping in a bedroom with her twin, Sean, and Madeleine when she was reportedly snatched – lit a candle and addressed the crowd. “It’s nice that everyone is here together, but it’s a sad occasion,” the 18-year-old said. The Duke and Duchess’ claims of a “near catastrophic” car chase involving paparazzi through the streets of New York has been called into question, with insiders, experts and even eyewitnesses calling the couple out.
