After weeks of controversy and scandal, embattled Prince Harry and Meghan Markle came out fighting this week as they prepared for their new lives independent of the royal family. Meghan’s estranged dad, Thomas Markle, is set to testify against her in a London courtroom. Meghan is suing the Mail on Sunday after they published extracts of a “private and confidential” letter she sent her dad in August 2018 – three months after he didn’t show up to her wedding because of a heart complaint. Documents filed at the High Court in London last week show the newspaper will call on Thomas, 75, to give evidence against Meghan, stating he “had a weighty right to tell his version of what had happened between himself and his daughter, including the contents of the letter”.
