I’m a neat freak from way back and I blame my mother (love you, Mum!). But it’s not easy striving to be clean and tidy all the time ’cause life really does get in the way. Lately I’ve been trying to relax my obsessive tidying tendencies because ‘reno life’ and ‘tidy life’ don’t exactly go hand in hand (see page 92 for part one of our new bathroom project). Something that has been helping immensely is reading up on the Japanese art of wabi-sabi. It’s about embracing the lived-in look and appreciating that imperfection can be beautiful. My husband Ashton and I are ocean lovers, so beachfront accommodation is definitely number one on our holiday wish list. Beautiful interiors and surroundings are a must, and being able to escape to our own private spot would be a bonus.
