soap stars battle coronavirus

Greg Rikaart (Kevin, Y&R) revealed on social media that he has tested positive for the Coronavirus. “I am a pretty healthy 43-year-old who doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink much, eats well and exercises regularly and this has been the hardest experience of my life,” he posted on Instagram. “Two+ weeks ago, everyone in my house had a bit of a cough and my son came home from school with a high fever. Everyone recovered, but I deteriorated. I isolated from my family and have been in solo quarantine since Saturday the 14th [of March]. I had a fever for 11 days, difficulty breathing and was diagnosed with pneumonia. I’m confident that I have finally turned the proverbial corner and am fever free today for the first time since this all started.…

eden mccoy takes on “new” gh role

On April 7, GH will air a special episode delving into the long-ago history between Carly and her adopted sister/archnemesis, Nelle, and will feature Eden McCoy (Josslyn) in the role of Young Carly. “I found out I was going to play Young Carly from Laura [Wright, Carly],” McCoy recounts. “I was on set, and she had finished up her scenes for the day and I went over to say hi and it was just like a one-sentence thing because she was running out, like, ‘Oh, by the way, I found out that you’re going to be playing young me!’ That was pretty much the extent of the conversation, but obviously, it didn’t leave my head much until I got the script because I was so excited. It was definitely something I…

days: kayla performs surgery on steve

Hell-bent on banishing dastardly “Stefano” from her beloved Steve, Kayla becomes determined to have the mind-altering chip that is implanted in his brain removed. “Kayla thinks she’s unqualified to take the chip out herself,” says her portrayer, Mary Beth Evans. “She thinks the person who put it in should be the person to take it out.” Namely, Rolf. However, the doctor and Stefano loyalist defies her, desperate to make things right with his boss after failing to transform Marlena into his devoted queen. While “Stefano” promises to rise again, Kayla faces Justin’s questions about Steve / “Stefano”, knowing the outcome could impact their future as a couple. Of course, Kayla doesn’t have a definitive answer. “It’s sad,” notes the actress. “Kayla has real feelings for Justin and is really committed to him.…

bad news for y&r’s sharon

Sharon receives the results of her breast cancer scan and they’re not good: Her tumor didn’t respond to chemotherapy. Sharon returns home in shock and disappointment. “It’s overwhelming to her that everything she’s been through didn’t help,” sighs Sharon Case (Sharon). “She’s not feeling good about the future and what steps might have to be taken now.” Mariah and Faith arrive and find their mother in tears. “It takes a while to find your voice in a situation like this and Sharon’s not able to say what the results are,” the actress explains. “But the girls can tell right away by her face that they’re not good.” Sharon doesn’t hold back as she admits to her daughters that the test results are a huge blow to her. “At this point of her…

b&b: flo grills dr. escobar

Wyatt begs Sally to seek treatment for her illness, but when she replies there’s no point if she can’t be with him, a suspicious Flo pays a visit to Dr. Escobar. “Flo goes there to see if there is anything the doctor can tell her,” explains Katrina Bowden (Flo). “She doesn’t go there looking for private patient information. Flo just wants to know if there’s something the doctor can tell her that could help Flo and Wyatt take better care of Sally.” Their conversation is tense. “Dr. Escobar does not want to tell Flo anything because, obviously, she has ethical guidelines to adhere to,” Bowden notes. “Flo expected that, but the doctor seems to be acting oddly during their discussion, which makes Flo even more curious. The doctor is really short…

gh: special carly/nelle episode preview

GH goes back in time on April 7, presenting a special episode exploring Carly’s life (and her relationships with adoptive parents Virginia and Frank Benson) before she came to Port Charles in 1996 — and in the process, shedding light on a major secret guaranteed to have ripple effects across the current canvas. Sets up Eden McCoy (Josslyn), who plays the younger version of Carly in the episode, “Carly came from nothing. She left her parents; she felt that her father didn’t want her. It was such a passionate role to play and I feel like I really got to know Carly better as a character, on a more intimate level. And it was just really interesting to see all the pieces fall in line and understand why she’s such a…
