come for tea Every time we begin working on our annual British issue of TeaTime, I learn more about the United Kingdom’s tea history and penchant for interesting and beautiful tea things, and I hope that you will, too. Our London-based contributing editor, Jane Pettigrew, who also happens to be an award-winning author, educator, and tea historian, acquaints us with the ties five cities (Bath, Glasgow, Harrogate, Liverpool, and Manchester) have with tea in her piece “Urban Tea Tales,” which begins on page 60. English teawares are things of beauty, and many of the photographs in these pages exemplify that—from the lovely Johnson Brothers example in Treasured Teapot (page 20) to the table settings of the three menus as well as the Gluten-free Scone (page 57).
