“Comings and goings keep the soaps fresh” Well, it’s all go at Corrie at the moment, with the news of four stars quitting the soap. But while the papers and websites might be screaming, ‘Corrie Exodus!’, ‘Stars Quit!’ and the like, we long-time soap fans are a bit more chilled about these events. After all, comings and goings are what keep soaps fresh. While it’s sad to see people go, new characters and stories will eventually take their place.
However, it is a shame – if totally understandable – that young actors don’t seem to want to dedicate their lives to soap these days. I suppose the lure of TV dramas, films or Hollywood is too much to resist. But will we ever, I wonder, see another character like Corrie’s Gail,…
