I RECENTLY, FINALLY, got Asus and Acer’s new high-end gaming monitors, the Acer X27 and Asus PG27UQ, for testing. The new cream of the crop, these beauties pack in every feature under the sun: 4K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, HDR, and G-Sync. They were first teased at last year’s CES, officially announced in April of the same year, and were expected to show up sometime in the fall. Then, in August 2017, it was announced that they’d been delayed until Q1 2018, which came and went with nary a new monitor in sight. The next target was July. Finally, they showed up in August, more than a year and a half later than that initial CES tease.
