Calls have been made for the eThekwini Municipality to be more transparent about the test results that led to it reopening some Durban beaches on Saturday.
The beaches were closed due to high E coli levels in August.
EThekwini Municipality spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela said the city had opened some beaches following extensive water testing.
Beaches that are now open include Bay Beach, North Beach, Wedge Beach, South Beach, Addington Beach, uShaka Beach, Point Beach (Vetchies), Brighton Beach, Amanzimtoti Main Beach, Pipeline Beach, Warner Beach, Winklespruit Beach and Umgababa Beach.
“Testing has confirmed that the water quality at these beaches is now at an acceptable standard,” he said.
