comic-con 2018

Caity Lotz, who plays butt-kicking Sara Lance on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, said the writers are the ones with the special skills: “I don’t even know how [they] keep pulling it off, but every time we read a script, it’s like, ‘What is happening? This is amazing!’ ” she said. Want to impress The 100’s Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor at the convention? Cosplay as their characters! “It’s really cool when we get to see people who dress up as us,” Taylor said. Morley agreed: “They’re the ones that I remember.” At their next-to-last Comic-Con—sadly, Supernatural ends after the upcoming 15th season—stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins (from left) reveled in the fans’ love. “It’s fun to be part of a show that brings together likeminded people,” Padalecki said. Returns Wednesday, Oct. 9, 8/7c, The CW Charles Melton is a huge fan of Reggie Mantle’s beloved 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS454. “Reggie’s car means everything to him,” Melton says of the football player’s ride, which he lost in Season 3 to Gladys Jones (Gina Gershon) before Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) bought it back for him. And yep, producers let Melton behind the wheel! “The power behind it is exhilarating,” he says. In “The Midnight Club,” the cast (including Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Ashleigh Murray and Lili Reinhart) played their onscreen parents as teens addicted to the fantasy Gryphons and Gargoyles. The best part? The style. “We looked at the cards the characters picked and the spooky folk tales surrounding the game for inspiration,” says costume designer Rebekka Sorensen-Kjelstrup. FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich,…

burning questions?

Clink! The Riverdale gang had much to celebrate over milkshakes at Pop’s diner in the Season 3 ender. Senior year is coming up, after all. Oh, and they survived the Gargoyle King, who was unmasked as Cooper imposter Chic (Hart Denton); the Farm, Edgar Evernever’s (Chad Michael Murray) organ-harvesting cult; and the return of the Black Hood (Lochlyn Munro). “Season 4 is the last time these friends may be together,” teases executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. “We’ll see college visits, spring break, graduation—and a new big bad.” He previews the next sinister turn. “SEASON 4 IS THE LAST TIME THESE FRIENDS MAY BE TOGETHER” The flash-forward of the blood-spattered Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) around that bonfire freaked us out. Is Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse)…

behind the scenes

Returns Thursday, Oct. 10, 8/7c, The CW “This season was a rough one for Sam,” admits Jared Padalecki (seen floored by a flame-blowing perfume bottle). Not only was the sensitive younger Winchester forced to promise that he would lock brother Dean (Jensen Ackles) away forever in a magical trunk if banishing the wicked archangel Michael from Dean’s brain proved impossible, but he also lost his beloved mother, Mary (Samantha Smith), and discovered God was not on the Winchesters’ side. It’s a good thing that “Sam had family and friends there to look out for him,” the actor says. Michael looks eager to fillet his next victim while inhabiting Dean’s body. Filming the scene was fun for Ackles because Richard Speight Jr. (far right, with Ackles), aka the former angel Gabriel, directed. “Camaraderie…
