Rauch and Helberg: And baby makes four@TVGMMattRoushI have watched The Big Bang Theory from the beginning but am about to give it up. There have been two babies born on this show and we never see them. Why have them if they’re not going to show them? —DorisMATT ROUSH: We do hear about them, especially as the babies impact the lives and relationship of howard (simon helberg) and Bernadette (melissa rauch) and, by extension, their friends. it’s always a risk to add kids to an established show—consider how rarely we see meredith’s brood on Grey’s Anatomy—but to expect Big Bang to suddenly turn into a family comedy is not probable. it may be unrealistic for these children to be so invisible, but maybe not out of character for a sitcom…

We can’t get over this Season 1 throwback art of Dolores by Harkalé Linaï (TOP: BILL INOSHITA/CBS. BOTTOM: COURTESY OF NETFLIX)PLAY ONI enjoyed the commentary by David Bianculli [April 30, “Why Theme Songs Rock”], but I can’t believe he didn’t mention the most iconic of all (to me)—the answering machine and delightful instrumental that intro’d The Rockford Files! —AnneLIFT OFFI just had to say how funny the show LA to Vegas is. The cast is perfect, and who knew Dylan McDermott was so funny? I hope this show gets renewed. —CathyKILLER REVIEWKilling Eve is the best show on TV right now. This BBC America thriller starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer will get your heart beating faster than it has in decades. Oh is perfect as an agent trying to…

MASTER CLASSDRUNK HISTORYSeason 5 resumes Tuesday, June 19School was never my thing. I daydreamed in class and probably missed out on a lot. I wish Comedy Central’s Drunk History had been around then. Each episode starts with a celebrity narrator laying out the tale of an intriguing historical figure as he or she slowly becomes intoxicated. The account is then acted out by a rotating cast of actors and comedians, like Colin Hanks (above), who played Fred Rogers as told by comic Solomon Georgio earlier this season. This show deserves an A-plus. —Jennifer Halper, Photo EditorTV BUCKET LISTTHE HANDMAID’S TALE EXHIBITIncluded with SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film admissionPraise be! (RODOLFO MARTINEZ/A&E)ON FRIDAY, MAY 25, 20/20 will do “something special” for longtime coanchor Elizabeth Vargas. You can call it a going-away party (10/9c, ABC). After 22 years at ABC (14 with the newsmagazine), the Emmy and Peabody Award–winning veteran journalist heads to A&E, where she’ll work under their new primetime banner, A&E Investigates. You’ve done hundreds of stories on 20/20. Do you have a favorite? The story I did a few months ago about Nathaniel Newman, who was born with a craniofacial disorder, similar to the character in the book and movie Wonder. It was a story I pitched, coproduced, wrote and obviously anchored and reported. We spent two-and-a-half years following this boy and his family and they’re the most extraordinary people I’ve had to privilege to report on. We got an…

Legendary LocationsWednesdays, 10/9c, Travel ChannelFor explorer and adventurer Josh Gates (he’s visited 108 countries!) hot spots are more like “not spots.” “The show isn’t called Legendary Locations because the epic places we visit are well-known, but because they have incredible backstories,” Gates says. “I share my secret list of thrilling unknown destinations.”Can you give an example of a thrilling unknown destination? We’ve all seen the Great Wall of China. But in the May 23 episode, we visit India to see the second-largest continuous wall on the planet. If you polled 100 people, probably all of them would never have heard of it. It has an ancient story of faith behind it that makes it a holy place for pilgrims.Do natural wonders make the cut? Yes. We travel to New Zealand in the…

Thursday Woes for ABCThere’s no hacking these election returns. The April 19 finale of Scandal went out with a ratings bang, drawing 5.5 million viewers, the most for the series since February 1, besting timeslot competitors Chicago Fire and S.W.A.T. Unfortunately for ABC, the numbers for Quantico (above), Scandal’s replacement on Thursday at 10pm, took a nosedive. The April 26 premiere of the CIA drama landed in third place with just 2.7 million viewers. Where’s fixer Olivia Pope when you need her?Killing Eve’s Big RiseBBC America’s new cat-and-mouse thriller Killing Eve, headlined by former Grey’s Anatomy star Sandra Oh (above), is the only new drama on ad-supported cable this season to post consecutive growth over its first three weeks when factoring in three days of time-shifted viewing. In fact, the…
