The current trend with cell chemistries is for the high capacity cells to become higher capacity at the sacrifice of peak power, while the high power cells are becoming more powerful at the sacrifice of capacity. The tyres must deal with sand, rocks, water, ice and mud, as well as extremes of hot and cold temperatures. The series turned to the Continental group for the answer, and the tyre company designed the CrossContact tyres specifically for this arduous challenge.
