There are those who know how to find these places, appreciate these objects, and enjoy this bounty of the land and sea. Selectus Wines is aimed at these people and the establishments they frequent. Uniqueness, beauty, distinction, finesse and well-being can also be expressed through wine and the vineyards they hail from. We seek out, select and describe these wines for the enjoyment of these discerning consumers. Lugares con belleza singular, que son especiales. Objetos que destacan por su capacidad de atracción y por su diseño, que son llamativos. Tierras y campos, mares y océanos que ofrecen sus más sinceros y honestos productos. Personas que saben encontrar esos lugares, que saben llevar esos objetos, que saben apreciar esas vituallas. Para todos ellos y para los lugares en los que se sienten cómodos, se escribe Selectuswines. La singularidad, la belleza, la distinción, la finura, el bienestar pueden, también, expresarse a través de los vinos y sus parajes. Los descubrimos, los seleccionamos, los bebemos y los describimos para que la gente con sensibilidad los pueda disfrutar.

satisfactory progress…

EN LA BUENA LÍNEA… When people start a business, they obviously hope that things will go smoothly, that the business will be a success and grow “little by little and with good lyrics” as the Spanish saying goes. When we started out on this adventure called “Selectus Wines”, this is what we were, of course, hoping for…. that our business would make “satisfactory progress”, as they might say to primary school children when handing them their school reports. In 2019, in our own “school report”, which came in the form of the IWC Merchant Awards Spain, we once again received the highest grades for a Spanish wine publication and we could not be more delighted. In recent times, we have seen different sides of luxury itself: what was once ostentatious is now too showy, and what was once elitist is now far removed from reality. Perhaps today we’ve discovered a more grounded luxury, based on sharing and democratizing, on having once-in-a-lifetime experiences and on seeking unique emotional stimuli. Champagne has always been a region associated with luxury, but today its reality is very different from that of several years ago. The stately has become artisanal, and the large, imposing Champagne Houses now share the stage with small producers. MIRTO VERTICAL TASTING The “Twenty Mirto Vintages” vertical wine tasting took place in the Hotel España’s majestic Las Sirenas lounge at the end of November as part of the “Experiencia Verema Barcelona” event. Rodolfo Bastida, General Director of the Zamora group, together with Eduard Caldero, sommelier at the 2 Michelin-starred restaurant, Enoteca, in the Hotel Arts Barcelona, conducted the master tasting and let us in on the secrets of this almost centennial winery in Rioja.
