In a particularly churlish mood, I argued that while art enhanced life, it was superfluous; humans don’t need art to survive. A decade later, I would like to formally retract that argument. I was wrong. The older I get, the more I’ve come to appreciate the power of art and its ability to help us understand and process the world around us. It connects us and helps us communicate shared experiences.
