IN THE run-up to the upcoming 8th Ministerial Meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation (Focac) in Senegal later this year, the influential 10th China-Africa Think Tanks Forum, which was officially incorporated into the framework of Focac in 2012, was held in Hangzhou, in the dynamic Zhejiang province, last week.
Under the theme, “Strengthening Solidarity and Co-operation, Enhancing Innovation and Development to Build Together a China-Africa Community with a Shared Future”, the two- day conference brought together more than 200 political, business, academic, civil society, media representatives from China and 15 African countries, including South Africa, Senegal, Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya, Morocco, Madagascar and Liberia, for wide-ranging and frank exchanges on the future of Africa and China co-operation, with a strong focus on the proposed Focac meeting in Senegal.
